Hitting the ground with winter-warm feet…

28 Jan 2024

Dear LPG

They say that, when keeping yourself warm in winter, the secret is to keep moving, and exercise has to be the place to start when it comes to getting anywhere near achieving that goal.

Regularly walking around the house helps, and a bit of a shuffling bop to whatever music happens to be playing when I am doing the washing up can be helpful, too, but as the years go by, arthritis and my body are slowly becoming better acquainted and, while my feet are aware of the advantages of all this activity, my legs and knees are not so willing to do the work that is needed to keep those lower extremities warm these days.

In preparation for what I know is in store this winter, I looked at the internet to see if I was doing all the right things.  I did not dismiss what those video makers who live in much more freezing climates had to say on the subject either because sometimes even our moderately wintery UK days often give that all-day sensation where my feet perpetually feel as if I have just been out for a walk in a much thicker pile of snowy, icy weather than they are aiming to protect against while the reality is that my house is warm and I usually have been nowhere.

I hope sharing some of them might make a difference to some colder toes as winter bites this year…

NE found a few exercises that might help depending on how mobile your feet are…
