Dear LPG, 

I recently sent you a message on the subject of toys(►►►), and it can well be argued that one close look at the things that we expect the people at the opposite end of the world’s age scale to most seriously appreciate, should be quite enough, but I have found another website that might be of interest to some of us older readers. 

Can you think back to any of the playthings that were at the top of your present-request lists when you were young?

I found a list which will bring back some serious memories for the child in any reader who is played with the state of the art toys of their day.  Again, I suspect that it is a list with American origins but if you make a few of those mental substitutions; take out GI JO and drop Action Man in in his place and remember Sindy as well as Barbie, I am sure some of the toys in the list will get your memory juices flowing to the point where some of the other more famous English toys come to mind.
