Poverty comes in many guises. 

We have all seen the pictures and adverts asking for money to help people experiencing poverty in far-flung parts of the third world. We know that poverty can be found much closer to home than that.

If you ask anyone you know, they will tell you that they are seriously poor at the moment, no matter how rich they look.   This applies even more in a financial climate where utility bills, food bills and everything else have gone through the roof despite all the government help we have been given.   

But everyone gets different incomes no matter what their age and so I did a little internet research to find out if there is a way that we can work out just how officially poor we are.

I have found a couple of poverty calculators and a website or two which might help readers determine if there are any benefits or other streams of income that might help. While I am sure that the information I have found is nowhere near exhausted, I hope readers will take the time to look.

I think that every UK resident needs to make sure that we are getting all the financial help we can right now…
