Cheap, quick, healthy; what’s not to like?

06 Dec 2023

Dear LPG,

I have to admit to turning the television on for company each day.  It goes on when I get up, and I rarely really listen to what is going on, but if you are like me, now and then, you will sit down with a cup of tea, and something that is said will catch your attention.

This is what happened to me one day, not so long ago.  They were talking about the energy crisis and the fact that using your microwave when cooking can be a lot less expensive.

Even if you are one of the ten per cent of people in England that does not have one, we all have been told that they do the cooking in half the time even though some things will never taste quite the same when done that way.   But despite all that, I looked online to see what it is worth having a go at.  Nowadays, we are all looking to keep energy consumption down, and if you live alone, it is so easy not to bother with a healthy meal.

I think it was when they mentioned that the difference between using a microwave and an oven to make a baked potato could be as little as 3p as opposed to 27p.

That got me thinking, and I looked online to see what was there.  There were not a lot of suggestions for adult meals until I found some information about what American students manage to produce.

I found some quick, easy recipes designed for live-alone students, which will ensure that you are eating healthy meals, minimise the cost of cooking and take practically no time to make.

I could not help but pass them on…
