Versed thoughts (chapter 57): A Bowl of Chicken soup…

08 Mar 2023

Dear LPG,

Winter, beautiful as it is to look at from the inside of a living room window, has to be the most unwelcoming season. I doubt anyone will disagree when I describe it as the time when our aches, pains, coughs, and colds are most likely to remind us of just how annoying this part of the year can be.

It is at a time like this that I have always appreciated a warm, comforting bowl of Chicken soup. I hope my poem today manages to have the same uplifting effect on any reader whose mental or physical well-being needs a little reminder…

A BOWL OF CHICKEN SOUP

Just what the Doctor ordered!
Just what I was yearning for,
Something to boost my system;
Like the classic Chicken Soup!
I had an urge... a longing,
For something special to eat.
I knew I needed a booster,
But what it was I did not know.

Just what the Doctor ordered!
The world’s best healing food.
Medicinal and special,
Some Chicken and Vegetable Soup.
Then a bowl was set before me,
Which was a huge surprise.
The contents were very simple,
Just what I was longing for.

Delightful, how delightful!
Delicious was my cry.
Just what the Doctor ordered!
This is better than Jollof rice.
Better than Fish and Chips,
Rice and Peas, Fried Chicken or Jerk pork.
None of these foods can revive me,
Like my favourite... Chicken and Vegetable Soup.
