Dear LPG,   

I think that there is a bit of a musician in all of us, and I remember with less than fond memories, my first piano lesson and being made to practice the one 16-bar tune I learned for half an hour every day by my parents until my teacher added to my repertoire.  It was a week of boredom that I will never forget, but those weekly lessons were not cheap and mu parents wanted to make sure they got their monies worth.  The half an hour got more interesting as my repertoire got a little bigger though.

 I have no doubt that many of today’s pensioners have either good or bad memories of trying their hands at one musical instrument or another at some point during the scholastic era of their lives.  Some will have excelled to musical greatness while others will have had a short-lived experience followed by a much more satisfying pastime of listening to the many genre of music that we have all enjoyed since our young days. 

There have been so many talented and famous musicians since then that some of them had to come from the Borough of Lewisham.  There are very few children of the 1930s around today, but I recently came across something that might interest the many fans of the era that that decade and this borough have left us with and found a You Tube video that might be of interest 

I was browsing the internet not so long ago when I came across the video I want to share today and I hope it brings back a few memories while some of the musicians of the era which started life in our borough are highlighted.
