Versed thoughts (chapter 52): Whatever

07 Jan 2023

Dear LPG,

We can plan but, when we really get down to it, we all have to admit that no one really knows what the future holds.  We only have so much control over what each of our own personal tomorrows hold and we, the older generation know that all too well.

We are the people who can look back and see if our plans helped once their consequences have already unfurled before us, and perhaps we are also the generation that that look forward to the unknown with a bit more acceptance than most.  This is the thought that inspired the poem I offer you today…

 WHATEVER

Whatever is to be, will be revealed eventually
Wherever I am to go, sooner or later I will know
As I make my way through life, avoiding anger, hatred and strife
Whatever lies before me, I can only wait and see
Whoever speaks against me, pressing their partiality
Will one day face the music, for being a boring critic
Whatever look is given, whatever words are spoken,
Will never bring me down, though I may moan or frown
Whatever… yes, whatever. This may seem strange, however;
I must be hopeful, instead of being sorrowful
Whoever reads these words, this poem may seem absurd;
And if you’re feeling hurt, may God bless your heart
Let me say once more, as I have stressed before:
Whatever will be will be, wait and see my friend…
Wait and see.
