Acknowledging something we’d rather forget…

10 Dec 2022

Dear LPG,

I think that we can agree that we have all had a really good summer and, as a sufferer of arthritis, while I cannot say that all the pain that I am getting used to these days disappeared while I was busy sweating my way through those June, July and August days, that pain did not appear to bother me quite so much, although I have friends who tell me a different story.

The one thing that all us sufferers can agree on is that, no matter how severe the pain is, it is one of the worst things about getting older.

It might well be that while it was so hot I just had something else really uncomfortable to focus on, but now that autumn is with us, the pain is back.

If you can get a doctor’s appointment, often the best they can do is prescribe some ointment or pain relieve pills but they only seem to be effective for a while.   Apparently alternating what you take can help a bit and with that in mind I took an internet look at what is available.

I found some information which perhaps might help when it comes to choosing alternatives that might make a difference although the one thing I have learned is that there is no perfect combination.  What works for one person will usually have little or no effect on the next sufferer.

Having said that, I found a list of what the experts say are the most effective remedies around at the moment and hope that sharing what is on offer might help anyone affected all be it for just a little while.   Perhaps something there might be of help to a few of the LPG readers that read my message.
