Do you need to do a lot of nose blowing?

31 Jul 2022

Dear LPG readers,

Yuck, I hear you say.  But I recently shared a piece of advice that most of us might reserve for people around them that they are fed up with listening to  (►►►).  I came across it by accident while browsing online and now I try to keep my mouth shut a little bit more often.   Perhaps it takes time to feel the advantages that my new breathing habits have afforded me so far, but I live in hope that my lungs are reaping the benefits of having all that purer air pumped in.   I still quite often catch myself trying to catch flies with my mouth even when I am awake, and consciously remembering to use it exclusively for the purposes of talking, eating and those occasions when a bit of involuntary laughing and coughing is needed so often slips my mind.

I so often forget my latest commitment to my respiratory system but, as I said, I don’t think I am the only internet browser who finds that asking Google one question leads to another.  A little further exploration on this subject got me thinking about how many of us spend a lot of time with blocked noses.  I get so fed up with needing to stop what I am doing in order to find a tissue so many times a day and the temptation is to go for the obvious alternative when your nose refuses to allow you the luxury of taking a breath.  I am sure that this is the reason why so many of us just let our mouths do the work.

I looked it up, I never realised just how many reasons there are for the habitual sniffers and snorters among us to hand the responsibility of air intake to our mouths, and that is before we list the hay fever, allergy and asthma sufferers.

But after a bit of layman’s research, I have found some lessons and advice on how to get into the habit of letting a less blocked version of your nose do the breathing, and I have asked LPG to share it.

(LPG would again like to repeat a warning about some of the videos shared below.  When it comes to the subject of nasal cleansing, we would again stress and remind readers that if they plan to try this it might be a really good idea to have someone else around for their first attempt.)

SE shares his lessons on how to train yourself to become a habitual nose breather…
