Dear LPG, 

I am one of those people who never actually found it necessary to use a typewriter, let alone a computer keyboard until I was well into my retirement, but now, more recently in my life, and especially having had the pandemic years to practice, I have become quite good at finding my way around the keys. 

I am not one of those quick touch-typists, but I spend a lot less time looking for the letters than I used to and get a lot less frustrated when trying to type a text or put a few words into the Google search bar.   I can honestly say that having got this far; I have acquired enough skill to be able to work out where each key is roughly, although I still must look sometimes.  

I have also picked up a bit of information about some of the other keys along the way, but every now and then there is something that I want and cannot find.   

Have you ever realised that while we only have 26 letters in our alphabet, and ten numerical keys, making 36, there are as many as 104 buttons on the average computer keyboard? 

I have never seen that many keys even though they have always been there.  

I recently found an explanation of what they all do and just in case there are any interested readers, I thought it might be worth sharing.  I hope that LPG readers who regularly use a computer keyboard discover a few more that make typing a bit easier.
