Inhaling and exhaling your way out of stress…

22 Jun 2022

Dear LPG,

The one thing that we older people have in common is that we have more time on our hands and as we reach retirement one of the things that most of us look forward to is having all that extra time to do exactly what we want to do.  But it does not take a lot of time for some of us to realised that having too much time to fill can be as bad as not having enough.

So, soon after that day when we say goodbye to a working life, so many of us find things to do and the result is that life quickly becomes full of the same stress that a working schedule forced us into, which is not a good thing.

I spent a little time recently thinking about things that you can do when a situation gets stressful for you, and we all know that the internet is one place that you can go for a few answers.

Apparently one of the quickest short-term antidotes designed to alleviate stress involves changing the way you breathe.  With the help of the internet, I have tried a couple of simple breathing exercises and suggest that a look at the techniques might be worth checking.  The ones I have found take very little time to try and, while I know that no one thing ever works for everyone, for some this might just be the answer.

I hope that they help.
