Dear LPG,

Perhaps today is a day to mark in your calendar if you are a pensioner who expects to celebrate their 60th, 72nd, 84th or 96th birthday during the coming year.  You may well be one of life’s tigers and, as the Chinese celebrate your year of significance, I thought it might be worth looking at what they see in your future so that when the dragons find their way to the streets this year you will be astrologically prepared for the year ahead.

I have to say that western astrology had me gripped for many years during my youth, but I now question how one 12th of the population can all look forward to the same predictions every day just because they were born in a particular month.  The Chinese seem to assume that a person’s characteristic traits depend upon their age which is even more confusing to me. 

For a rough guide, their astrological traditions dictate that if your birthday is roughly divisible by 12 this year your characters should all be the same.  That being said, I did have a look at what the internet says about those qualities and perhaps some of the world’s Chinese tigers might want to take a look too. 

Tigers are supposed to be full of energy, ready to take a risk or two, motivated, passionate about the things they decide to do and people they decide to care for, confident and caring, and according to the way they see the stars, this is your year. 

Even though I have become a little sceptical when it comes to this kind of star gazing over the years, and in spite of the fact that I have not really looked for any of the negative qualities you tigers are supposed to possess, we all need to take a little look at who those around us really see when they take a look at who we are.

Perhaps this Chinese New Year is a day for all the world’s ‘tigers’ to take a look at their better traditional traits and work out what they can do to be more like the big cats that our Chinese friends are celebrating this year…
