Arthritis and the cold, wet, grey days…

02 Nov 2021

Dear LPG readers,

I wonder if, like me, that as you are getting a little older the pain of arthritis is reminding you that you are affected a little more each year.  If you are like me, you will also have noticed that it becomes worse during the winter.

And here we are again anticipating the end of the summer for another year.  The beginning of October is the time when I start to think about Christmas with anticipation, but the cold and how bad my arthritis is going to get this year is also in my thoughts.

This is the time when arthritis becomes one of the top topics of conversation yet again.  All too many of my friends agree that winter is the time to expect the worst of their arthritic pain if they suffer, but it occurred to me that it would be a good idea to find out why that is and if there is anything that can be done to make our winters more about the other, more eagerly anticipated winter related events that we are used to.

I recently dedicated one of my early morning internet sessions to taking a look at why this happens to us and what we can do about it, and found a few explanations, exercises and other things we can all do which might make a little difference when the time comes.

I have asked LPG to link readers to what I have found, although some of the opinions differ, because I do believe that knowing what you are up against and learning a little more about why we are affected like this might help a bit.
