Versed thoughts (chapter 45): MY SISTER

07 Aug 2022

Dear LPG,

Sisters, from what I understand, you can’t live with them and you can’t live without them.  When you are young they are likely to boss you about a bit but there is always someone to ask when you really have problems with your homework I suppose.

Actually the poem tells that I never had a sister and regretted it for twenty years. Then I fell in love with a beautiful young woman, who became much closer than a sister over the next 50+ years. And between us we produced a son and a daughter and a pair of lives that stood the test of so many of life’s obstacles.

MY SISTER

She was never born.
I was an only son.

I played alone.
At first school
Two girls joined my class.
Best friends for each other.

At second school it was just boys.
And I was shy at the youth group.

So I waited and waited until college ended.
Then I made a best friend, closer than a sister.
My wife was
Loving and loved for ever.

Our son had a sister.
A completed family.
