How complicated is the knee…

04 Sep 2021

Dear LPG,

I am wondering if there are any other readers who have experienced the same problems as myself.  I think that nearly everyone has problems with their knees but lockdown has been quite hard on older ones.

I suspect that there is very little you can do about the pain they often cause as we all know that arthritis is more likely to get us than not in the end, but I have found a few online videos that tell of another reason for knee pain.  They are from the USA so perhaps there is another name for what is being described but when you have pain most people will want to try to make it a little better and in this day and age when it can be even harder to get an appointment with your doctor, it might be worth looking at what I have found.

While we have been locked down, exercise has been harder to keep going and, I am not sure but I think that now that the promise of getting out a bit more is a real possibility, we will be able to use those joints a little more, but I bet I am not the only older person that has a little more of a problem just getting from room to room in the house these days.

I was recently reading an LPG news post which mentioned the fact that exercising a painful knee quite vigorously can be helpful (►►►) and thought that even if you don’t have one of those vibrating platforms or steps that you sit with your legs on,  there are other exercises you can do.  One of the Videos tells that your knee pain may be caused by something other than, or as well as, arthritis.  I also found a little information that we might pass on to our forty and fifty-year-old offspring about what can be done while they are still relatively young, in preparation to perhaps limit its effects in later life…

I have found some information that might help if your knee pain is not directly caused by arthritis and hope that a few sufferers might find it helpful…

LPG would again just like to remind readers about being careful when trying new exercises…
