Another old wives’ tale reborn…

29 Sep 2021

Dear LPG,

I recently read an article on your pages about exercising your eyes and other things you can do to improve the sight that you get from them, and one of the video links that ES left at the bottom, pointed out the benefits of taking Aloe Vera to help that process.

That is not really a new concept and most of us older people know that Aloe Vera is really good for a lot more than just improving eyesight. I remember my mother always promoting the positive effects that it has on so many parts of the body and, in spite of how easy it is to grow, even for someone devoid of a single green finger like me, I remember when it became the latest craze all over again in the late 1990s.

It was the heyday of door to door selling and everyone was trying to sell bottles of the stuff designed to last for a month which cost upwards of £20.00 a time even then.  I thought it was madness but I knew many people who parted with their money.  My question was always why is it so expensive. I suppose that I asked that question when I looked at the plants sitting in my living room.

I will admit that the bottled stuff was more palatable, anyone who knows its benefits is usually also very aware of how bad it tastes ‘au natural’ if you know what I mean.  Back in the day I used to take my daily dose and accept the taste in the same way that one does any medication, but times change and there is now no longer a need to ‘knock it back’ in the same way that you would deal with a tot of the hard stuff.

Over the years, I have learned how to ‘do it yourself’ if you follow my drift and, just in case any readers have been inspired to pay lots of money on a regular basis to experience the benefits of the stuff, I thought it might be a good idea to pass on what YouTube has to offer on the subject of how many ways you can use it, how good it is for you and how you can make it yourself…
