Please don’t let Trypanophobia stop you from having the Jab…

27 Feb 2021

Dear LPG,

I have no doubt that with so many of the things that we would like to do off the menu at the moment, life is getting us down but we all know that the time is coming when, even though they will never be the same again, life’s details will return to a new version of what will very shortly be known as typical for each and every one of us.

Until then we have choices before us.  We can each spend our time thinking of all the things that we have missed out on since this time last year, or we can work on our dreams for the future.   I know that it is really hard to focus on the positive aspects of life at the moment, but we have to believe that the worst part of this pandemic is behind us by now.

So, working at being positive has to be the way forward. The saying goes, ‘when you are down, the only way is up’ and the jab has to be the way forward for the nation if we are to fulfil our dreams.

I have to admit to being one of those people that have reasons to want to refuse the vaccination, even though many of my friends have now had the first part of theirs. The truth is that I have a serious aversion to needles and though there are many other reasons for refusing the Jab, I suspect that there are quite a few people who might not admit it but know that this phobia is the route of their refusal for accepting any injection unless they really have to.

I have now received my letter and, even though I know that I really have to have this vaccination, it is the needle that is worrying me rather than the outcome, so I have had a look online and found a few videos which have made me feel a little better about sitting down long enough to allow it to be administered, and while I know that there are many other reasons that people feel unable to bare their arm, I hope that taking a look at some of the links I have asked LPG to share will make a difference if Trypanophobia is the thing that is holding you back .
