In the interests of National Self-Sanity…

04 Apr 2020

Dear LPG,

Is self-isolation getting you down?  When it was only the people who thought that they might be infected who were instructed to stay at home, I suppose that being ill would have been the main concern for the Self Isolated, but now that we healthier elders are also being ‘locked down’, this whole situation is becoming even more difficult to deal with.

Watching the news is something we all can do, but continuous bulletins of bad news is not the way forward for healthy minds.  There is a lot of information on the internet about what to do in the best interests of your health and people are slowly coming up with a few ideas to take your mind off being alone if you are not affected.

As usual most of the ideas are designed to be ergonomic and consequently some of the suggestions may be too difficult for us older people to negotiate, but depending on mental and physical ability there will be a few things that might engage us.

I know that there are many more and that new lists and recommendations are being added, but I would like to suggest taking a look if only to take your mind off the crux of the matter for some of the time that we are all forced to continue in this situation.  While many of the suggestions are duplicated some of the ideas offer something a little different.  Perhaps the secret is take a look.  At least one suggestion could fire your imagination and give you something to talk about with your friends and family during those telephone calls which could do with a new subject of discussion from time to time.

A list of things that you perhaps might do in the best interests of national sanity…
