...the voice of pensioners

London, honestly, I kid you not!

01 Apr 2020

Dear LPG,

Did you know that we have local councils because of the London Government Act 1963?  I like to think of them as not being foolish even though, like the Grater London Council, they all officially came into being on April 1st 1965 as a result of that act.

Another thing that I am not joking about is this website which I , for one, really enjoy with its diverse assortment of  daily articles, but it occurs to me that LPG is an organisation which, now it has become an electronic read, is in transition like so many other newspapers and newsletters that have moved to an online format.

There are many really interesting articles which offer really good information for all pensioners, although when contributors offer phone numbers and contact details to help readers contact the council they invariably still offer the details of the people who can help at Lewisham.  This is predictable as they are based in that borough, but much of the information can be translated to fit any borough in London, or indeed the world equivalents.

I found the following link which offers council information for all the London boroughs, so that LPG readers, regardless of where they actually live, who want to find the people in their council who they can take issue with regarding local matters, might take a note of the link so that they have more of an idea of where to start.

OW, Deptford

OW shared a link which will allow any London based reader to find details of their councils and councillors and LPG have added a little information we found about the history of London Borough Councils.
