A bit of cold weather advice

21 Sep 2019

Dear LPG,

I have decided to put pen to paper today, in preparation for next winter, because I have seen that stuff that we all dread even though I remember when there was a whole lot more if it…  I am talking about snow.

I was looking from the living room side of my front window, and it got me thinking about the cost of keeping our homes warm this winter.

I know that I dread my winter electricity bill and often wonder if I will really be able to afford it, but somehow, I have always managed thus far.   I know that there are many pensioners who are not so lucky though.  I found the attached document online.  It was written by Age UK and has a lot of interesting information about who is entitled to get help with energy bills.

One thing that I keep being told is how important it is to contact your energy supplier sooner rather than later, if you think that you may not be able to pay.

I am hoping that LPG will add a link to the leaflet at the bottom of my message, for those who are not likely to get a paper copy,  so that they can access it on line without having to do all the preparatory Googling first.

AS requested by SL, please see the Age UK Factsheet on the subject of getting help with heating costs together with some older but related information we found …
