If you have to cry today make them tears of joy.

21 Jan 2019

Dear LPG,

Did you know that according to the internet today is going to be the most depressing day of 2019?  It was all worked out in 2005, and one theory is that the magic of Christmas and the New Year are over, there is still cold and depressing weather and everyone is back at work.

We don’t have the work issue to deal with if we are retired but I wonder if anyone misses having a reason to trundle off to work each day.  When I did commute back and forth to central London every day (come rain or shine) I used to moan about having to, and anticipate retirement for the most part but, now that it has arrived, it sometimes gets me down.

I know that I don’t feel too positive on most days which is something that I plan to change this year and for anyone else who feels the same way, I wanted to suggest watching a video I found not so long ago on You Tube.

It made me cry but they were tears of joy even though it was a sort of ‘You’ve been framed’ programme from America and, when I saw it, it reminded me that there are so many people less fortunate than me while the young victim of the prank ended up with her ‘happily ever after’ moment.

I would like to think that there is a television company that could use this idea in the UK and I have learned that if you want something you have to make an effort to let the people who can facilitate it know.  So I have added a new resolution to my list, though it is a little late.  I plan to send a few emails to some British television companies to see if I can make a small change this year in the hope that an English version of this programme can be produced.

I would like the opportunity to update you if anything comes out of my efforts  but in the meantime watch it today if you feel as blue as the day suggests.

RY, Forest Hill.

RY asked LPG to leave a link to the video in question for you to view…
