Thoughts on the Garden of life.

23 Dec 2018

Dear LPG

The following was written over a decade ago but I hope that readers agree that it is relevant.

The oxygen is the life.

We can live for a day or two without water and for quite a long time without food, but only a few minutes without oxygen.  Oxygen is the life and is the power of our body, which is a wonderful house; sport and all activities its walls, balanced food its foundations and cleanliness is the roof.  Without foundation, walls and a roof there is no house.

There is no need to be frightened by Sport and all the numerous forms it takes, just ½ an hour’s brisk walk would assist in the well-being of the body.  Movement is essential to enable the heart to pump oxygen-bearing blood to all parts thus enabling all to function well. It seems that busy people are usually healthy except those who neglect their balanced diet and pure water. Many elderly people rise early and do their work.  ’Early to bed and early to rise’ is a wise old saying but everyone is unique, so activities will vary accordingly but whatever the disabilities, consider the possibilities.

Eating too many sweets is good for nothing and can lead to sickness.  Alcohol and tobacco are the worst things and have helped to destroy both liver and lungs which are miraculous.  Sensitive organs, if damaged, are unable to help in pumping 3 to 4 thousand gallons of blood around our bodies each day.  Prevention is better than cure. A well-balance diet helps to heal disease both physically and morally.  It also helps to retain a youthful appearance. These are the guardians in the garden of life.

‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’ and is important, but the interior of the body is just as important as the exterior if all organs are to remain in a good condition.  Tea and Coffee are not good; pure water is preferable.

Elderly people are kind.  They try to help and understand the trials of others, but only a few of us feel their pain.  The government should help us more.

Leaving it too late is like digging a well for water when the house is already on fire - ‘Where there is a will there is a way’ and it is never too late to change bad habits.

Please consider what I have written as the guardians in your garden of life.  Good luck
