For pet’s sake.

01 Nov 2018

Dear LPG

I had lived alone for a while and when I found myself in that situation I did not think that I would ever adjust, but then I invested in a cat who very quickly became my best friend.  Not long after, luck would have it, a cousin of mine was in the same situation and we decided to share my home and responsibility for our feline friends.  All four of us have been getting along very nicely and the cats are now our talking point and have become nearly as important as our children once were to us.

We are neither of us getting any younger and it has crossed our minds that our pets could outlive us, but an RSPCA advert on the subject that I saw on TV recently got us thinking.  We are not particularly rich and don’t actually pay pet insurance even though we have seen adverts offering them.   I have looked into it before and found many of the companies offering monthly premiums that are financially quite frightening.

The RSPCA  ‘Home for life’ scheme offers a service where you register your pet with them and leave instructions in your will so that if the worst happens they can look after your pet until they find a new home for them  and the best thing is that there is no cost involved.  As with most things, it can all be done on line, but a telephone call to 0300 123 0346 will get the process rolling for you.

I would like to appeal to readers to get their pets registered so that you know that their future is sorted and, if that prospect is the only thing which is stopping you making a decision to find a new best friend, of the canine or feline persuasion, it does not have to be any more.
