The summer of 2018; one to remember…

24 Oct 2018

Dear LPG

I am surprised that you have not yet received a comment on the summer spell that we have been experiencing until now.

There is no doubt that the beautiful whether is slowing many elders down considerably because of the extra effort we have to put in to nearly everything we do, but can any readers cast their minds back to the last really hot summer that we experienced?

The summer of 1976 is the summer that I am thinking of and it was 42 years ago when I was in my early 20s and commuting to and from central London in order to work.  Hot pants were a little passé by then but they all seemed to be retrieved from the section at the back of ladies’ wardrobes where the ladies keep all the old fashioned bits of clothing.  It occurs to me that those young ladies are now more than 40 years older and, it was a struggle to keep cool then, what of now?

I hope that no one is uttering the words “It is just too hot!”  We have to remember that in a couple of months’ time when we are gearing up for Christmas, we will be saying the same phrase with equal exasperation, but substituting the word ‘cold’ for ‘hot’.

By the time this post finds its way to  be featured the hot spell mentioned will probably be over but this information will come in useful for next year.   LPG found some information about keeping cool during the summer months
