Getting away in spite of it all…

12 Oct 2018

Dear LPG,

I defy anyone to say that it has not been a good summer this year.  If anything, it has been too good, although when it comes to the weather, I admit to being one of those people who are never satisfied.

I have not been on a holiday for quite some time now and thought that because I live alone and am disabled I would never have the opportunity to do so again, but I was surprised to find all the companies which specialise in the sort of holiday that would suit a person like me.  I am not sure that I would go alone, but I have a few friends who are also wheelchair bound and a few of us plan to make plans for next year.

While we have nothing definite in place yet,  we would like LPG to pass on some information we have found on line so that other readers with similar disabilities can make a few plans for 2019 too.

I think that, as a disabled person, even if you do have able bodied friends and family who would consider going on holiday with you, you would probably worry about them really enjoying themselves as they spend extra time worrying about you and your special needs.

I think that having something like a holiday to look forward to is a really good way of lifting your spirits, especially if you can find someone to share the planning experience with, and so I am seriously looking into making some holiday plans for next year and hope that any reader with similar problems to mine will think about a similar adventure of their own.

IY, Lee
