Giving your memory a physical workout?

11 Sep 2018

Dear LPG,

I have already mentioned my new pre-sleep routine when writing an earlier piece that LPG used as your news post which was called Pensions then and now’ and continue to find this a good way of preparing for sleep each night.

While browsing the internet recently I came across something that I found interesting and that I would like to share.    I know that I am not unique when I say that my memory is not as sharp as it once used to be and I find myself forgetting the silliest of things lately.  So I decided to use this as a start point for one of my daily forages into the wonders of the World Wide Web.

I found a lot of reading on the subject but the two links that I hope LPG will be able to pinpoint at the end of this article may make a difference.  One is particularly practical although very American but for all that I found going through the suggested exercises an interesting way to pass a few minutes.

The second is more of a physical exercise and I am interested to know if it really works so I will be having a go at adopting the suggested posture and following the instructions, as far as my legs will allow, to see if it really makes any difference.  If anyone feels physically equipped to try this way of improving their mental skills I would really like to learn of the result of their efforts.

TM, Crofton Park

LPG has put hyperlinks to the two exercises that TM has identified, but having watched the more physical of the two exercises would remind readers that it is designed for those with legs fit enough to take the strain off all the squatting that is involved.

LPG also found an interesting test that readers might like to try but again it is quite challenging…
