Why do I need to ‘bulk buy’’?

10 Sep 2017

Have you seen the advertisement where the Meerkat is looking for a meal for one? The poor meerkat looks so dejected at the end.

I live alone, but I only feel dejected about one aspect of my life when I visit the supermarket.  There appear to be many ready-meals designed for one on the shelves, but that is about it.  I am lucky enough to enjoy being able to cook for myself, but I feel that I am not really catered for.

I don’t need a bag of 5 or 6 apples or oranges but I have to pay more for the two I do need.  This is the rule for so many grocery products on the shelves and have you seen the size of the bags of cabbage and spinach that are so often on sale.  Even packets of breakfast cereal and tinned produce are so much more expensive, ounce for ounce, when you buy the smaller amounts.

So there are products that I don’t buy anymore and many that I buy where at least half is predestined for the bin before I get it home.

Is there anyone else who feels the same way?
