Short sighted seeing at night.

13 Jun 2018

Dear LPG,

I know that I am not the only one who has this habit.  Do you read yourself to sleep or watch the TV until you drop off?  I am a TV watcher and I know that all the advice says that we should not have one in the bedroom, but I find that it works for me.

There is only one problem and that is the myopic one.  Without my glasses I have no chance of reading or seeing what is going on and yet keeping your glasses on can result in weakening the arms or breaking them altogether. One solution has to be keeping the pair that was your best ones until you had a new set made, especially if you have a few old pairs and your sight has not deteriorated too much since you wore them regularly.  I am sure that I am not the only one who has experience the ‘lost in the morning’ effect; when you distinctly remember having them on when you go to sleep but have no idea what happened to them between that time and the time that you wake up again.  This is when the searching begins and the fear of sitting on them when you move or stepping on them, because they fell on the floor during the night sets in.   There is the other variable  to be considered, which is that sleeping in them can result in the problem that you wake up with marks down the side of your face, or on your nose, that are shaped exactly like the corresponding  bits of the glasses.

I have found another solution.   Flexible glasses could be the answer for you too.  There are lots of companies offering them and although I have taken a look on-line some are quite inexpensive.  After all you are only looking for something that you can afford to forget to take off when you fall asleep.

They don’t have to be pretty, they just have to work during the night.

LPG found a little information on the subject.
