Hello LPG

14 Jun 2017

I used to live in Lewisham but moved to Bristol about a year ago.  I do have quite a severe and compound mixture of illnesses, but my medical experience has changed so much since my move.   I have no problems telephoning the GP and the often hour-long wait to be answered in Lewisham is a thing of the past for me.  When I do get through I do not find myself being asked the many questions that I would have to answer in order for them to establish who I am.  I have one doctor who will call me back within the hour if I phone the surgery in crises. Since moving, I have been visited by my GP three times because I was too ill to get to the surgery on occasions when I would have had no alternative but to get to A & E were I in Lewisham.  A Minor Injuries accident and emergency clinic has been opened at my practice and when I have been able to visit the walk-in clinic I have never been left waiting for more than 10 minutes.

The one negative aspect of my new NHS experience is that neither of the two hospitals local to my more recent home can provide the level of care which I received when at Lewisham Hospital.  I realise that there is a smaller population concentration here which makes such a difference.
