GP extended Access service has moved….

26 May 2018

Dear LPG,

I just want to ask you to update the information that you posted on November 28th last year.  The article was called ‘By Alternative Appointment?’ and informed of an alternative way to get a Doctor’s appointment when one cannot be accommodated by their own GP.

I have used the service twice now, once at the end of last year and again quite recently, but I found out that the part of Lewisham Hospital that is shown in the picture accompanying your post is now out of date.

The site of the service has moved into the hospital, and is now located beyond the corridor that gives access to the A&E department on the walkway to be found on the right hand side past the hospital shop, and between that shop and the lifts (marked 12 and 13).

One can still only be referred via one’s GP, and it may be possible that I was given this information when I was booked in for the appointment with my GP, although I can not remember being told.  I have to say that I do agree with, and totally relate to PB’s experiences as recounted in that article.

I already mentioned that I have now attended this surgery twice and found it to be a really positive step forward, and I have noticed that it is getting busier. Could it be that Lewisham Borough would benefit from a couple more centres providing this overflow service?

  MT, Catford
