A less foolish thing to do on the day.

01 Apr 2018

Dear LPG,

I am hoping that you will be able to post my message on April fool’s day.  This is the day when traditionally we try to make fools of each other with harmless jokes in an effort to make people smile, but I would like to give the day an additional title which is a bit long-winded.

It occurs to me that this day marks the passing of exactly a quarter of any year.  We are often in the throes of Easter and the longer, lighter days are coming.

At the beginning of each year even though we don’t admit to it as, readily as we once used to, we do  tend to draw a demarcation line in our lives and promise ourselves that we are going to do a few things differently.  But, by now, the dust has settled and those New Year promises (that many of us refuse to call resolutions) have gone by the board.

I think that we should also call it ‘Have you kept your resolution so far’ day.  I think it should be a day when we take stock of those things we promised and remember that there is still three quarters of the year to get them right… and by the way, I am not fooling about this!

What do LPG readers think?

LPF found some information on the history of April fool’s day which might make you smile…
