Never too old to set new goals

05 Apr 2018

Setting goals is important. It is an effective way to increase motivation while tracking progress throughout one’s life. Most people set goals while they are young: they choose the career they would like to have, they think about the city they want to settle in… Some of these goals will be accomplished, but some others will not and that can lead to frustration. Maybe, this is why many people stop setting new goals when they grow up. However, we should never stop establishing new objectives. Actually, seniors who set achievements enjoy some benefits.

Goal setting improves health and vitality. For example, setting a goal that focuses on eating healthier food or doing more exercise will increase the sense of well-being. It can also increase self-confidence, as each goal that is met will be a boost of confidence and a source of motivation to meet new challenges. Seniors, who experience the benefits of setting goals, will also have better social relationships. Sometimes, seniors will have to work with friends and relatives to reach their goals and this will help build stronger relationships.

So, goals are a way to keep people motivated - no matter how old they are – to enjoy life and improve their health. Try to set realistic goals and take advantage of the benefits that come from celebrating your achievements. If you run out of ideas, ask a friend what goals he or she would set and decide if you want to add them to your goals list too.
