Get the care that you deserve

06 Dec 2017

We all want to live an independent and fulfilling life, but sometimes we need some kind of health and social care. There are basically two different types: non-residential care (care in your own home) and residential care (living in a care home). There are good reasons to get tailored support. On the one hand, it is important in order to get exactly the type of help that you need so you can live as independently as possible. On the other hand, finding the type of care that suits you ensures that you pay for what you actually need.

Because, let’s be honest: care is not always for free. The price varies depending on the services you get and unfortunately, some people might have trouble affording it. That is why your finances need to be assessed when you apply for care. And here is where you can make a difference: why should you pay more when you actually deserve to pay less? Social workers are there to help you and answer your questions, so don’t be afraid to ask. Do you think that your needs have not been properly assessed? Let them know. Do you think that you are paying too much for the services you are getting? Tell them about it. Don’t renounce getting the support that you really need. Everybody deserves dignity, and that includes having all our needs covered and, many times, it involves getting the right social or health care that can guarantee that you have everything that you need.
